In the Style of Diane Arbus. |
I wanted to turn this photo into black and white to get the full Arbus effect. I also loved my friend Patty's daughter Jes' expression. It so perfectly captures that awkwardness that I feel comes through in some of Arbus' photos that involve children.

In the Style of Margaret Bourke-White |
Bourke-White went to the top of the Chrysler building, I managed to make it up to the top of one of the dorms on campus.

In the Style of Nan Goldin |
Nan Goldin was all about capturing her life, her moments, and her experiences. For me, these two make up a major portion of my life. I love their expressions and the snapshot quality of this photo.

In the Style of Paul Strand |
I kept thinking about Paul Strand's shadows and shapes, and immediately the steps to my apartment in the late afternoon came up. I feel that the overlapping shapes and shadows recall Strand in an interesting way.
